Simple Home Remedies for Common Allergies

A lot of people are nowadays suffering from allergies. Though most of the allergies are harmless, some of them can be quite serious. Allergy is the body’s reaction (like sneezing, coughing, swelling of the skin, etc.) to the otherwise harmless components in the environment (called allergen). Most allergies have simple remedies. These remedies are great for people suffering from everyday allergies. And the better part is that most of these remedies can be done even at home.

Nasal Allergy

Saline solution can be used to clear nasal allergy and to irrigate it; it also assists in soothing top respiratory problems.


It does this by removing the inflammation causing irritants that are lodged inside the nose. The solution can be bought in drug stores or made at home. If you want to prepare it at home, mix a teaspoon of salt in a small cup of warm distilled water and add a pinch of baking soda to it. Once you have the solution ready, inhale it through one nostril at a time and drain out through the other. Do this once or twice a day.

Pollen Attack

Simple home remedy for pollen attack is to wash. The washing or showering can clean off the residue of pollen that has collected on the body during the day. You should also change your pillow case. Washing also clears your sinuses for sometime and the warm water might assist the body to relax, and you can sleep well. For example if you are having itchy eyes and you are not able to access allergy medicine, then it is advised to rinse your eyes by using cold water; this will soothe your eyes and help calm down the irritation.

By using these home remedies, you can avoid allergic reactions that can get worse and more serious if not looked into. Take these as first aid, and in serious cases, don’t forget to see a doctor.
