VASER Liposuction vs. Traditional Liposuction

Liposuction, simply abbreviated to lipo, is nothing but a fat removal surgery. It is a cosmetic procedure that is aimed at improving your figure by reshaping it and making it slimmer. The areas from which the excess deposit of fat is removed include abdomen, thigh, waist, calf, cheek, arm, etc. Sometimes it is performed as a standalone procedure and sometimes in conjunction with plastic surgery like breast reduction and facelift. It may be noted that liposuction is not a panacea all types of fat; it is most suitable for stubborn fat that refuses to go away with regular exercise and proper diet.

VASER Liposuction vs. Traditional Liposuction

Sometimes, the fat is too soft and can be easily removed using traditional liposuction. At other times however, the fat may be too dense and tight due to connective tissues. This usually happens in areas like knees, neck, ankles, chin, etc. In such cases, direct removal of fat may be difficult and also not give the desired results. It is where advanced procedures like VASER liposuction come in.

VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance, which in simpler term means, ultrasound. In VASER liposuction, ultrasound is used to emulsify and loosen the fat before being pulled out. It basically does the same job as LASER liposuction but through sound energy instead of amplified light or radiation.

Selective targeting

VASER liposuction breaks up and separates the fat cells in a highly selective manner, leaving the vital tissues unharmed. It thus minimizes the risk of risk of injury to connective cells, nerves and blood vessels.

Reduced pain

Since it selectively targets the cells being removed, there is less or no tearing to the surrounding tissues. Hence, there is less bleeding, less swelling, less bruising and less pain. It is minimally invasive and ensures speedy recovery. Also, the patient can walk out of the hospital soon after the surgery.

Better results

VASER liposuction stimulates the production of collagen, giving a tighter skin for most patients. Also, since the fat is removed more accurately, it gives better contour. Regular liposuction, on the other hand, often results in sagging skin.
